More Than You'd Expect. For Less Than You'd Think.

For years, Westside drivers have told us the same thing: they like the idea of driving electric, but they were waiting for the right vehicle at the right price. The Ford Fathomâ„¢ is that vehicle. It is Ford's all-new midsize electric truck and the very first vehicle built on Ford's new Universal Electric Vehicle Platform, and it arrives with a starting MSRP of $28,350 with the standard-range battery. That puts a brand-new, all-electric Ford truck within reach of far more households in Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Brentwood and across the Los Angeles Westside.

The Fathom was designed around a deep understanding of how real people live. It seats five adults in a four-door cabin that Ford projects will offer more passenger volume than the Toyota RAV4, then adds an open cargo bed in back and a front trunk (frunk) up front for even more storage flexibility. It is just as comfortable on a weekday commute down Lincoln Boulevard as it is on a weekend run up Pacific Coast Highway with surfboards, bikes or camping gear in the bed.

Ford preorders officially begin in early 2027, with first customer deliveries expected later that year. Interest in an electric truck at this price point is already high, and the best way to be first in line in Southern California is to reserve yours now with Santa Monica Ford. Simply fill out the reservation form at the bottom of this page and our EV specialists will keep you updated every step of the way, from official reveal details to the moment your new Fathom is ready to drive home.

Value Shouldn't Mean Compromise

Ford built the Fathom to prove that an affordable electric vehicle can still feel well equipped. Everything about it is designed to make everyday life easier, from the way you unlock it to the way it can help power your home.

Affordable From the Start

A starting MSRP of $28,350 with the standard-range battery places the Fathom squarely in the heart of the affordable EV market and undercuts most electric pickups sold today. Destination and delivery is $1,595, and the dealer sets the final selling price. Ford has not yet published trim levels, so reserving early is the easiest way to get pricing and package news the moment it is released.

Remarkably Modern Inside

A large, high-resolution center touchscreen brings easy-to-use navigation powered by Apple Maps. A Digital Key, Ford app remote control, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility are all standard. Your phone becomes your key, your remote start and your music library in one, which is ideal for quick trips to the Third Street Promenade or Main Street.

Room for the Whole Crew

Five-passenger seating, a projected interior volume greater than a RAV4, a frunk for groceries or a beach bag, and an open bed for the bulky stuff. The Fathom gives you the flexibility of a truck with the everyday comfort of a crossover, sized right for tight Westside parking and busy LA freeways.

Fathom Can Power More Than Your Drive

The Fathom offers bidirectional power capability. It doesn't just take in electricity to charge its battery; it can also send AC power back out to your home. For Southern California homeowners, that opens up two very practical benefits.

Power When You Need It

Be ready for the next outage. When your home is properly equipped, the Fathom's battery can help keep essentials like lights, the refrigerator and Wi-Fi running. During heat waves, wind events or planned grid shutoffs, that peace of mind matters to families from Malibu to Mar Vista.

Power to Save

The Fathom can even help lower your electric bill. Charge overnight when electricity is typically less expensive, then use that stored energy to power your home when utility rates rise. Many Southern California households are on time-of-use rate plans, which makes this kind of energy shifting especially useful.

Built With Utilities in Mind

Ford is working with utility partners to prepare the grid for bidirectional EVs at a larger scale. Home equipment and utility interconnection requirements apply, and our Santa Monica Ford team can point you toward the right next steps as Ford releases more details on home power setup.

Hands-Free Highway Driving, Built In

Every Ford Fathom will be equipped with the hardware needed for Ford's next generation of BlueCruise capability. Once activated, BlueCruise is a driver-assist feature that provides a hands-off, eyes-on driving experience on designated highways called Hands-Free Blue Zones. For commuters who spend real time on the 10, the 405 or the 101, that can make long drives noticeably more relaxing.

The Fathom's next-generation BlueCruise integrates with Apple Maps navigation to deliver a more seamless on-ramp-to-off-ramp experience. Combined with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, the Fathom keeps the technology you already use front and center, without making you learn an entirely new system.

Because the Fathom is a software-forward Ford built on an entirely new platform, it is also designed for the connected features Ford owners expect, including remote control through the Ford app and a Digital Key that lets your phone unlock and start the truck.

fath·om

the span of outstretched arms
noun
A unit of length equal to six feet, used chiefly in measuring the depth of water. Archaically, the span of a person's outstretched arms.
verb
To measure the depth of. To penetrate and come to understand.

A Name That Runs Deep, Right Here on Santa Monica Bay

Sailors once used the fathom to measure water they couldn't see the bottom of. Over time, the word came to mean something more: to understand a thing completely. Ford chose the name because real depth comes from deeply understanding how you live. Inspired by that classic measure of open arms, the Fathom welcomes you in with an expansive interior and technology that adapts on the fly.

It is a fitting name for a truck arriving in a beach city. Here on the coast, where the Pacific meets the Pier, we think the Fathom's story of depth beneath the surface will feel right at home. As Ford puts it, there is far more beneath the surface than meets the eye.

Ford Fathom nameplate on the new Universal EV Platform electric truck

Engineered on Ford's New Universal EV Platform

The Fathom is the first vehicle produced on Ford's Universal Electric Vehicle Platform, a ground-up design intended to underpin a broader family of lower-cost Ford electric vehicles. A dedicated Ford team was tasked with simplifying both the vehicle and how it's built, and that simplification is a big part of how Ford reached a sub-$30,000 starting price.

The platform uses lighter, lower-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic batteries from Ford's BlueOval Battery Park Michigan. Ford has also produced thousands of large aluminum unicastings at its Shelbyville Technical Center as it refines the manufacturing process, and the truck's wiring harness is reported to be more than 4,000 feet shorter and 22 pounds lighter than the one in Ford's first electric SUV. Production is scheduled to begin in Kentucky in 2027.

Ford has not yet published the projected EPA-estimated driving range, dimensions or payload figures. When those details are announced, Santa Monica Ford reservation holders will be among the first to hear.

The Fathom Electric Truck for Santa Monica and the Westside

Santa Monica has long been one of the most EV-friendly cities in California, and the Fathom is a natural fit for the way people drive here. Daily trips are often short and stop-and-go, parking spots are tight, and weekends can mean anything from a farmers market haul to a canyon drive. A midsize electric truck with a frunk, a bed and room for five covers all of it without the size or price of a full-size pickup.

Santa Monica Ford proudly serves drivers throughout the Westside, the South Bay and greater Los Angeles. Whether you live a few blocks from our showroom or across town, our team can help you reserve your Fathom and plan your switch to electric. We regularly welcome customers from:

  • Santa Monica
  • Venice

Living in Southern California also means access to one of the most developed charging networks in the country, and many Westside homes and condos are adding Level 2 charging. Our specialists are happy to talk through home charging, public charging and what to expect from day-to-day EV ownership so you can feel confident before your Fathom arrives.
